Top 10 Takeaways from Content Live #2019Sorted
There was so much value and useful information packed into last week’s Content Live created by Janet Murray, the event had great speakers, brilliant planning and delivery by Janet and her team, a super useful workbook and a room full of likeminded entrepreneurs. The focus of the event culminated in the second day when we all began to set out our content plans for 2019 in our shiny new Media Diary. After taking the weekend to filter all the information and make sense of my notes, my top takeaways for building 2019 content are;
10 Social Media Hacks for 2019
We should all be creating video. Use video to create content which is educational, raises awareness of your product or service, give the audience something to consider and then a call to action.
Get Pinning in 2019. Pinterest is a huge search engine and an excellent platform to get more eyes on your content. Create boards that represent your business and the interests of your idea client then use your images to create pins and sprinkle in your own content with other people’s pins. You can also use groups to find your people and increase your views per month. By using rich pins, you can tag in your blog post or website to drive traffic to your website.
Get Strategic. Don’t be average on 10 platforms be awesome on 3 and a super hero on 1.
Facebook Ads. Use Facebook ads to drive traffic to your content. Even if, like me, you don’t have a page on Facebook, set one up keep the info basic but current and then use the adverts to drive content to your website or subscription page.
Instagram Tips. Use the location setting in Instagram stories to boost reach and views. Use hashtags but try and stick to ones with less than a million uses to avoid getting lost in the mix. Be consistent and create engaging posts.
Do you Podcast? We should all be podcasting, and it can be done simply and at low cost with technology you already have on your smartphone or tablet – we did it on one take at Content Live with the help of the fantastic podcaster Ant McGinley. Why not think about taking a blog post and turning it into a podcast?
Repurposing can change your life. Repurposing content is a great way to expand reach and get more eyes on your content and connect with people who respond to different types of content. Recycle evergreen content on your blog post, turn that post into a video or infographic, even a podcast and there you have lots more content by just using your original work. Find out more from Amy Woods the content repurposing expert.
Live Video can save you time. Use live video to avoid having to edit it. Time saver and you can do it on your smartphone or tablet on the move, allowing you to be more spontaneous. Good tip if you can be prone to procrastination.
Consistency is King. Blog consistently, in fact be consistent in any content you produce. You don’t have to do it daily, but if you do it weekly then stick to it, your audience will expect it and if you don’t show up they will find someone else’s content to fill the void.
Plan, Plan, Plan. I love a plan, but I know the thought of planning out content fills some people with dread but by just thinking about what your content might look like by quarter, month and then week can help you prepare ideas for content that could be around an event, a theme, an awareness day. With these snippets of ideas, you can then leave room for spontaneous posts or news related posts and re-purposing evergreen content to give you a rich pipeline of material for 2019.
